Involved in Girls Volleyball, Swimming, and Weightlifting, senior Presley Engelauf ended October by hitting a 290-pound combined lift at the Venice meet as the Mantas defeated Venice 50-32. In addition to starting her weightlifting season, she won the district championship with the volleyball team and played through to the regional final. She was a 4-year varsity starter for the volleyball team and ended her senior season first in kills and second in aces and blocks. Presley competed in swimming districts, qualifying for the regional meet. Competing in three varsity sports successfully in one month is a rare accomplishment. Presley also excels in the classroom..
Competing in Boys Cross Country, Sean Perry, senior, won the North Port Invitational and the Mariner Invitational meet. He won the County Championship and was second in the Tri-County Championship meet. Sean was the Individual District Champion and led the boys team to their 4th straight trip to the state championship meet. He was named HT Preps athlete of the week and has a season best time of 16:23 for a 5k. If it was not for lost time from Hurricane Ian, he would have likely run sub 16:00, which is his goal at the state meet. Sean is an excellent student, very hard worker, and shows great leadership.
