5/13/2020 4:41:00 PM Dollar General employees chip in to help Meals On Wheels recipients
Dollar General associate Carol Fournier had a brainstorm while reading a story on Meals on Wheels (MOW.) Recognizing that most of the MOW recipients were unable to visit stores for supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic, she asked her co-workers if they would like to chip in to donate hard-to-find toilet paper for the MOW clients. They were able to donate three cases of toilet paper and this has started a weekly tradition for the employees. Carol decided to expand the supply drive and started to engage store customers who are asked if they would like to donate a $1 item. She states that 9 out of 10 customers respond favorably and she is amazed by their generosity. A MOW volunteer picks up the collected donations twice a week. Meals on Wheels has started sending over a client wish list that is used for customer selections. Paper products, personal hygiene products, dish and laundry detergent, cleaning products, candy, snack foods, pet treats and puzzle books are some of the items requested. Store manager, Mary Peterson, fully supports her employees’ generosity. Dollar General Store #9036 is located at 410 N. Indiana Avenue.
